Anatomic Path Resolution Representative - Greensboro, NC - Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm

The APRS is responsible for general clerical support functions within the Anatomic Pathology Department. This position is a clerical position with the primary functions performing data entry of surgical pathology specimens into the Quest LIS systems and providing customer service to clients. Functions performed may include but are not limited to data entry, troubleshooting, and scanning. The AP department is a high production environment, with emphasis on productivity/quality standards and departmental completion deadlines to meet contracted client expectations. All functions must be performed with confidence, accuracy and in accordance with departmental SOP's, focus on quality and in a timely manner. The job is complex and very detail oriented and requires that the employee have good organization skills, medical terminology, strong data entry skills, ability to multi-task, to learn and understand specimen source types related to anatomy. Must have the ability to learn and understand compliance regulations. This position is critical to providing work quality for customer satisfaction. Additionally, since many changes do occur from day to day, great flexibility and a positive attitude on the part of the APSR is required.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to perform all responsibilities of the Anatomic Pathology Resolution Specialist.
  • Strong, accurate and productive data entry skills.
  • Demonstrates an ability to learn the job duties assigned to the APRS, and develops and understanding of how all the functions fit together.
  • Ability to identify problems, and in some cases, may resolve issues with specimens such as missing information, clarification of orders, etc.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the compliance policies related to test ordering, confidentiality, and ability to research information.
  • Participate in orientation and training of newly hired employees, as needed.
  • Escalate complex customer issues to the appropriate individuals/departments.
  • May administer and track approved release of AP materials according to corporate policy.
  • Place client calls as indicated in corporate Anatomic pathology Report Notification SOP.
  • Electronic recording of slides into Laboratory LIS system.
  • Manage process for requesting recuts, special stains and immunohistochemistry stains.
  • May provide QA/QC documentation support.
  • Contact clients to request additional information.
  • Handle and respond to incoming calls and e-mails in a professional and timely manner.
  • Meets the standards for production and accuracy within 6 months.
  • Completes all required written documentation, legibly and within the assigned timeframe.
  • Completes all assigned training documentation within the assigned timeframe.
  • Meets or exceeds performance expectations to include attendance, adherence to work schedule and demonstrates Quest values and behaviors through work performance and peer interaction.
  • Is open to learning additional functions within the department.
  • Strong communication skills with all team members is needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Preferred:

  • HS diploma or equivalent

Work Experience:

  • Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a medical laboratory

* Medical Terminology

* Knowledge of CPT Coding and an understanding of Anatomy

* Customer Service experience

* Requires experience and knowledgeable with Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Previous experience in a high production environment preferred

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Able to sit or stand for long periods
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a production environment
