Electric Panel Technician

Phoseon Technology, an Excelitas Technologies company, is the world leader in clean energy UV LED curing solutions for industrial applications. Phoseon's products enable faster, cleaner, and more efficient industrial processes for UV curing of photopolymers in adhesives, inks, and coatings.

As an Electrical Panel Technician at our Hillsboro, Oregon manufacturing site you will build the panels which power and control our industry leading UV LED Flexographic Press lamps. To succeed in this role, you must have experience assembling and wiring electrical panels, by working from blueprints, schematics, and bills of materials. You should also have knowledge of electrical theory, measurement, and have testing and verification skills.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Build electrical power and control panels and cables from schematics, diagrams, and drawings
    • Determine and mark location where components go. Fasten components to panel. Attach wires point to point per wiring diagram. Terminate wires using IPC-620 standard. Identify each component with a label.
    • Test panel functionality, including attach mains voltage and apply power (up to 480V) and use the Human-Machine Interface to activate various functions.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures, including LOTO (lock out tag out).
  • Suggest changes to electrical and mechanical drawings. A plus for ability to update schematics and CAD.
  • Manage time, prioritize work, and perform in fast-paced environment while achieving cost effective results on production schedules.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Use good written and verbal communication skills in English. Create accurate and concise documentation.
  • Work independently at times with limited supervision.
  • Assist other departments as needed building cables, assemblies, and testing.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Read, interpret, and follow specifications on complex electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, Quality Control Manuals, Process Control Procedures, and other technical manuals and specifications.
  • Have a working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), computers, industrial control programs and interfaces between controllers and programming systems.
  • Properly use basic hand and power tools, especially wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, cutting tools, hole tap and punch, measuring tools, drills, wire stripers, crimpers, T-square and more.
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical problems using digital multimeter and other standard electrical tools.
  • Familiarity with generating and modifying schematics in a computer-added design tool preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • This job requires the worker to stand, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • This job requires the worker to have close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Occasionally the worker must lift items weighing as much as 50 lbs.

Education and Experience:

  • AS degree in electronics or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience building power and control panels.
  • Working knowledge of electrical standards and codes such as NFPA 79, NEC, UL508, IPC 610, IPC 620 and CE.
