HDR is looking for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our growing water team in Omaha, NE.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Water Resources Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Design and production support on water resources and transportation projects for various cities, counties, and state and federal agencies, and private companies.
  • Lead production of design calculations, technical reports, permitting, and engineering plans and specifications for design of detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities, and other hydraulic structures.
  • Provide additional support for water resources and transportation projects in areas of hydrology and hydraulics for roadway drainage and major and minor crossing structures, analysis and design of urban storm drainage systems (hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater quality), watershed hydrologic analyses for planning, outfall master planning, and flood control conveyance and detention facility design.
  • Perform risk-based assessments and inspection of flood control projects.
  • Perform construction administrative activities, including review of shop drawings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 10 years Water Resources experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, Storm CAD, Haested Methods
  • Experience in water resources planning, hydrology/hydraulics, and drainage/flood control design
  • Familiarity with DOT drainage design criteria
  • Experience in FEMA studies a plus
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSCE preferred
