About the Antiques & Vintage Team

The Rejuvenation Antiques & Vintage team is responsible for grounding Rejuvenation's product and brand stories in historic inspiration, authenticity and authority. The team consists of knowledgeable and experienced antique merchandisers. As part of the team, you will bring a track record of driving business results and a passion for historic design.

Overview of the Antiques & Vintage Assistant Buyer role:

In this role, you will play a key role assisting in sourcing, and merchandising the division's inventory, and serve as a primary representative of the division with vendors, customers, and brand partners. This position performs essential administrative tasks and provides analyses that inform strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the division.

This is a hybrid role - 4 days/week onsite in our Portland office required.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with A&V Buying Manager to define divisional inventory needs and seek out purchasing opportunities for antique and vintage goods, evaluate quality and condition of available product, research value and cost of comparable items, and negotiate purchase agreements with vendors. May include occasional travel to antique shows and markets to source product.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks including vendor set up, item set up, purchase order creation, invoicing of products, and allocating item and material cost capture with Accounting team.
  • Serves as primary inventory manager, responsible for labeling items upon receipt at warehouse, coordinating with Inventory Control team to put away received inventory, performing regular audits of product online, and assessing and managing obsolete or damaged items.
  • Provides input to Restoration Coordinator regarding restoration of antique products, and sources necessary supplies to facilitate the restoration process.
  • With direction from Buying Manager, produces division promotional lists for brand sales events and produces semi-monthly inventory markdown lists.
  • Works with Buying Manager and brand partners to assess needs and allocate product for all sales channels.
  • Produces product highlight summaries to be shared with Marketing and Trade partners.
  • Maintains product photography and information archive.
  • Responds to customer and brand partner inquiries and coordinates with Customer Service team to address customer needs.
  • Shops competing markets and products to identify trends and relative market pricing to remain competitive.
  • Researches items utilizing both the company archive and web resources to assist with restoration and to add value via attribution, story, and provenance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year prior experience in purchasing architectural salvage and/or antique products preferred
  • Knowledge of architectural preservation, cultural history, and/or historic manufacturing methods and materials preferred
  • Proficient use of MS Office Products - Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to multitask
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Periodic travel required (potentially up to 2-3 times per year

Work Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in both an office setting and in a manufacturing environment, where airborne particles, chemicals, flammable materials, dirt, grease, and mechanical / electrical equipment are present (Personal Protective Equipment provided).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be required to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods, and to occasionally move, lift or carry heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds. This position requires the ability to visually recognize details and patterns at close range and to distinguish colors.
